Hi, everyone.
I'm starting a series of posts on cheap vegan food because I'm currently on EBT, which I'm not proud of, and to dispell the myth that vegan food is expensive. Sure two vegan cupcakes at the Co-Op are almost $6, and organic tomatoes are almost $5 per pound. But soymilk, fresh vegetables and frozen fruit can be found at the 99 cent store, and Food Source has vegetarian choriso for the exact same price as beef and pork varieties (with less fat and more fiber).
So my next few posts will be on healthy meals for $6 or less. EBT benefits are usually about $200 per month, which works out to $6.66 a day. Not much, but it goes alot further than you'd think.
